What CoolPeel® + VirtueRF treats

Each device does a different job. These are the concerns most often discussed when the two are planned together.

Fine Lines

CoolPeel resurfaces the outer layer of the skin, where fine lines sit. VirtueRF supports collagen beneath them. Many clients see lines look softer as the skin heals and renews.

Skin Texture & Pores

Resurfacing removes a fraction of the outer layer so that smoother skin can form in its place. Texture and the look of pores may improve over the weeks after treatment.

Loss of Firmness

Radiofrequency energy warms the deeper layers of the skin, which prompts new collagen. Firmness changes gradually, over a period of months.

Sun-Related Uneven Tone

CoolPeel treats the surface layer, where much sun-related discolouration is found. Your provider will tell you whether a light-based treatment would suit your pigment concerns better.

Treatable areas

Face: full face, including around the eyes and mouth

Neck

Chest

Your provider will confirm which areas are appropriate for you at consultation.

What to expect

Before, during and after your CoolPeel® + VirtueRF appointment at Wise Aesthetics.

Before your treatment

Avoid Sun Exposure

Stay out of direct sun and avoid tanning beds and self-tanning products for at least 2 weeks before treatment. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every day.

Pause Certain Skincare Products

Stop retinoids, exfoliating acids such as glycolic and salicylic acid, and vitamin C serums 5 to 7 days before your appointment.

Space Out Other Treatments

Avoid chemical peels, microneedling and laser treatments in the area for 2 weeks beforehand.

Review Medications and Supplements

Your provider will advise whether to pause aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E or other products that can increase bruising. Do not stop any prescribed medication without speaking to the prescriber.

Tell Us About Cold Sores

If you have a history of cold sores, tell your provider in advance. An antiviral medication may be prescribed.

Arrive With Clean Skin

Come with clean skin and no makeup, lotion, oil or sunscreen on the treatment area.

During your treatment

Numbing

Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. Numbing typically takes 30 to 45 minutes.

VirtueRF

Your provider treats the area with the VirtueRF handpiece, adjusting needle depth and energy to your skin and concerns.

CoolPeel

The CO₂ laser pass follows. You will wear protective eyewear while the laser is in use.

What It Feels Like

Most clients describe warmth, pressure and a prickling sensation. The numbing cream makes treatment more comfortable, though you should expect to feel it.

Before You Leave

A soothing product may be applied, and you will be given aftercare instructions to follow at home.

After your treatment

Expect Redness and Warmth

Redness, mild swelling and a warm, sunburn-like feeling are common and typically settle within 2 to 4 days. As the skin heals it often feels dry and rough, like fine sandpaper.

Protect Your Skin From the Sun

Avoid direct sun for at least 2 weeks and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every day.

Keep Skincare Gentle

Use a gentle cleanser and a hydrating moisturizer. Avoid retinoids, exfoliants and other active products for 7 to 10 days, or as your provider directs.

Avoid Heat and Sweating

Skip hot showers, saunas and vigorous exercise for 48 hours.

Do Not Pick or Scrub

Let dry or flaking skin come away by itself.

Know When to Call

Contact the practice promptly about increasing pain, blistering, signs of infection or anything that concerns you.

Expected results

The First Weeks

Once redness and dryness settle, many clients notice smoother, brighter-looking skin.

The Following Months

Collagen forms slowly. Changes in firmness and fine lines continue to develop over several months.

What Affects Your Result

How much change you see depends on your skin, your age, your sun exposure and the number of treatments in your plan.

Individual results vary.

How often to return

About CoolPeel® + VirtueRF

Two treatments, two layers of the skin, one visit

CoolPeel + VirtueRF pairs two energy-based treatments in one appointment. Each works on a different layer of the skin, which is why they are often planned together.

VirtueRF is radiofrequency microneedling. Fine needles enter the skin to a set depth and deliver radiofrequency energy there. The warmth prompts the skin to produce new collagen over the following months.

CoolPeel is a fractional CO₂ laser treatment. It delivers energy in very short pulses that treat the outer layer of the skin while limiting the heat that reaches the tissue beneath.

Why the two are combined

Changes in the skin rarely sit at one depth. Fine lines, rough texture and sun-related uneven tone are largely surface concerns. Loss of firmness begins deeper. Using both devices in one visit lets your provider address both layers and plan a single recovery period.

Is it right for you?

Not everyone needs both. If your concern is mainly surface texture, CoolPeel alone may be enough. If it is mainly firmness, VirtueRF alone may suit you better. Your provider will examine your skin and tell you plainly which approach fits.

This treatment may suit:

  • Fine lines together with early loss of firmness
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Visible pores
  • Uneven tone related to sun exposure
  • Clients who can plan for a few days of visible recovery

Both devices are FDA-cleared.

Individual results vary.

Is CoolPeel® + VirtueRF right for you?

Your provider reviews your medical history and discusses risks and alternatives with you before recommending treatment.

Who may not be a candidate

This treatment is not suitable for everyone. Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection, cold sore or rash in the area, have a history of keloid scarring, have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, have had recent sun exposure or a tan, or have used isotretinoin. Your provider will review your medical history, medications and skin type before recommending treatment.

Risks and side effects

Every laser and radiofrequency treatment carries risk. Common effects include redness, swelling, warmth, dryness, flaking and temporary small marks where the needles entered the skin. Less common effects include changes in skin colour, which can be darker or lighter than the surrounding skin, reactivation of cold sores, infection, burns and scarring. The risk of colour change is higher in deeper skin tones and with sun exposure before or after treatment. Your provider will go through the risks that apply to you and answer your questions before you decide.

CoolPeel® + VirtueRF questions, answered

Are both treatments done in the same visit?

Yes. VirtueRF is performed first, followed by CoolPeel, so you plan for one appointment and one recovery period.

Does it hurt?

A numbing cream is applied before treatment. Most clients describe warmth, pressure and prickling during the session, and a sunburn-like feeling for a day or two afterwards.

How long is the recovery?

Expect 2 to 4 days of redness, mild swelling and dry, rough-feeling skin. Most clients plan around social or work commitments for that period. Your provider will tell you what to expect for your skin.

When will I see results?

Many clients notice smoother-looking skin once the initial dryness settles. Changes in firmness develop gradually over several months. Individual results vary.

Who should not have this treatment?

It may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore, have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, have recently tanned, or have used isotretinoin. Your provider will review your medical history first.

Would one treatment be enough for me?

Possibly. CoolPeel alone suits surface concerns, and VirtueRF alone suits firmness. Your provider will recommend the combination only if both apply to you.
