What HD Radiesse Biostimulation treats

Collagen loss shows up differently in different places. These are the areas where Radiesse is most often discussed in consultation.

Skin Laxity & Crepey Texture

As collagen declines, skin loses firmness and can become thin and finely wrinkled, often on the neck, chest, arms and above the knees. Diluted Radiesse is spread evenly beneath the skin to encourage new collagen, with the aim of improving thickness and texture over time.

Hands

The backs of the hands lose volume and skin thickness with age. Radiesse is FDA-approved, undiluted, for volume loss in the back of the hands. Your provider will explain whether an undiluted or diluted approach suits you.

Face & Neck

In the face and neck, diluted Radiesse is used for skin quality, not for adding volume. Your provider will assess whether it fits alongside any other treatment you have had or are planning.

Body Contour & Skin Quality

On the arms, abdomen, thighs and buttocks, diluted Radiesse is used to address skin laxity and texture. These are off-label uses, and your provider will discuss what is realistic for your anatomy.

Volume Loss

Where volume has been lost, Radiesse can be used undiluted to restore it in a defined area, while the diluted form supports skin quality across a broader surface. Your provider will explain which approach suits you.

Treatable areas

Face: lower face and cheeks, for skin quality

Neck and décolleté: fine lines and crepey texture

Hands: the backs of the hands

Arms: upper inner arms

Abdomen: skin laxity

Thighs and buttocks: skin laxity and texture

Not every area suits every client. Your provider will confirm which areas are appropriate for you.

What to expect

Before, during and after your HD Radiesse Biostimulation appointment at Wise Aesthetics.

Before your treatment

Review Medications and Supplements

Your provider will advise whether to pause aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E or other products that can increase bruising. Do not stop any prescribed medication without speaking to the prescriber.

Limit Alcohol

Avoid alcohol for 24 to 48 hours beforehand to reduce the chance of bruising and swelling.

Space Out Other Skin Treatments

Tell us about any recent laser treatment, peel or injectable in the area so your provider can time your visit appropriately.

Share Your Medical History

Tell your provider about medical conditions, allergies and anything you take regularly.

During your treatment

Assessment and Marking

Your provider examines the area and marks where the product will be placed.

Preparing the Skin

The skin is cleansed. A topical numbing cream may be applied for comfort.

Placement

The diluted product is placed beneath the skin through a small number of entry points, usually with a cannula, and spread evenly across the area.

Massage

Your provider may massage the area to help distribute the product.

What It Feels Like

Most clients describe pressure and brief stinging. The product is commonly mixed with lidocaine to make treatment more comfortable.

After your treatment

Expect Some Swelling or Bruising

Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common and usually settle within a few days. A cool compress can help.

Follow Your Provider's Massage Instructions

You may be asked to massage the area for several days. Do so only as directed.

Ease Back Into Exercise

Avoid strenuous exercise for the period your provider recommends.

Area-Specific Care

If your thighs or buttocks were treated, your provider may ask you to limit prolonged pressure on the area for the first few days.

Know When to Call

Contact the practice promptly about pain that is increasing, skin colour change, firm lumps or anything that concerns you.

Expected results

Gradual Change

The saline in the diluted product is absorbed within days, so any early fullness is temporary. The change this treatment is designed for comes from your own collagen and develops over the following months.

What to Look For

Clients typically report skin that feels firmer and looks smoother in the treated area. How much change you see, and how long it lasts, depends on the area, your skin and your age.

Individual results vary.

How often to return

Your Plan

Your provider will recommend the number of sessions and the spacing between them after examining the area. Many clients have more than one session, and some return for maintenance. Your plan is set at consultation and reviewed as you go.

Session length and the amount of product used depend on the areas treated. Both are confirmed at your consultation.

Your provider will recommend the number of sessions and the spacing between them after examining the area.

A consultation with a licensed medical provider is required before treatment to confirm that it is appropriate for you and to give you the treatment fee. Your medical history and current health are reviewed at that visit.

Please follow the pre-treatment instructions you are given. If they have not been followed, your provider may need to reschedule your treatment.

What HD Radiesse Biostimulation costs

About HD Radiesse Biostimulation

Gradual support for your skin's own collagen

Radiesse is an injectable made of calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral-based material suspended in a gel. HD stands for hyperdilute: the product is mixed with saline, and often lidocaine, before treatment. Placed in a fine layer beneath the skin, it acts as a scaffold that prompts your body's own collagen response over the following months.

Undiluted Radiesse is used to restore volume in a defined area. Hyperdilute Radiesse is used across a broader surface for skin quality: firmness, thickness and texture. We offer both, and your provider will explain which approach, if either, suits what you want to address.

FDA status, stated plainly

Radiesse is FDA-approved for specific uses: moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, volume loss in the back of the hands, and, when diluted, wrinkles of the décolleté. Other uses of diluted Radiesse described on this page are off-label, which means the FDA has not reviewed the product for that particular use. Off-label use is common in aesthetic medicine and is a decision made between you and your provider. During your consultation we will tell you which applies to your plan.

Who it may suit

  • Skin that has become thinner, looser or crepey with time, sun exposure or weight change
  • Areas where you want gradual improvement in skin quality, not a change in shape
  • Clients who prefer a result that develops over months

Individual results vary.

Is HD Radiesse Biostimulation right for you?

Your provider reviews your medical history and discusses risks and alternatives with you before recommending treatment.

Who may not be a candidate

This treatment is not suitable for everyone. Tell your provider about any history of severe allergies, bleeding disorders, active skin infection or inflammation in the area, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any medications or supplements you take. Your provider will review your medical history before recommending treatment.

Risks and side effects

Every injectable treatment carries risk. Common effects include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness and itching at the treatment site. Lumps or nodules can occur, and in the hands they may be noticeable for an extended period. Rare but serious complications, including injection into a blood vessel, are possible with any injectable. Your provider will go through the risks that apply to your treatment area and answer your questions before you decide.

HD Radiesse Biostimulation questions, answered

What is the difference between Radiesse and HD Radiesse?

They are the same product. HD, or hyperdilute, Radiesse has been mixed with saline so that it spreads thinly across a larger area. Undiluted Radiesse is used to restore volume in a specific place. Diluted Radiesse is used for skin quality.

Is HD Radiesse FDA-approved?

Radiesse is FDA-approved for certain facial wrinkles and folds, for volume loss in the back of the hands, and, when diluted, for wrinkles of the décolleté. Using diluted Radiesse in other areas is off-label. We will tell you at consultation which applies to you.

How many sessions will I need, and when will I see a change?

That depends on the area and on your skin, and your provider will recommend a plan after examining you. Collagen builds slowly, so most of the change develops over a period of months, not days. Individual results vary.

What is recovery like after HD Radiesse?

Swelling, tenderness and bruising at the treatment site are common and usually settle within a few days. Your provider will tell you when to return to exercise and whether to massage the area. A numbing cream is usually applied before treatment, and the product is commonly mixed with lidocaine for comfort.
