Sculptra and Biostimulators in the Indianapolis Area: How a Treatment Plan Works
Sculptra® is available in the Indianapolis area at Wise Aesthetics in Carmel. It is an FDA-approved injectable biostimulator that works gradually by prompting the skin to produce its own collagen. Treatment is planned as a series, typically two sessions about 8 weeks apart, with results developing over 3 to 4 months and lasting up to 2 years. Individual results vary.
Biostimulators are planned differently from other injectables, and that is the part clients ask about most. This guide explains how a plan comes together and what it typically costs.
What a biostimulator is
Most people are familiar with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which add volume at the time of treatment. A biostimulator takes another route. Instead of supplying volume directly, it encourages your skin to build collagen over the following months. The change is gradual, which many clients prefer because it does not arrive all at once.
Wise Aesthetics offers two biostimulator treatments:
- Sculptra® (poly-L-lactic acid). FDA-approved for facial wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines. Use in other areas is off-label.
- HD Radiesse. Radiesse® is an FDA-approved injectable. HD stands for hyperdilute, meaning it is prepared in a diluted form to use as a biostimulator. Some uses of diluted Radiesse® are off-label.
When a recommendation involves off-label use, your provider will say so and explain why they are suggesting it.
Who tends to ask about biostimulators
Clients usually raise biostimulators when they notice:
- Gradual loss of volume in the cheeks or temples
- Skin that feels thinner or less firm than it used to
- Deepening folds around the mouth
- A wish for change that develops slowly and looks like their own face
Whether a biostimulator is suitable for you depends on your anatomy, skin and medical history. It is not suitable for everyone, and your provider may recommend a different treatment, or a combination.
How a Sculptra® plan is built
Consultation. Your provider assesses your facial structure, where volume has changed, and the quality of your skin. Together you agree on priorities.
Initial series. Collagen takes time to build, so Sculptra® is delivered over more than one session. The initial series is two sessions spaced 8 weeks apart, with two vials at each session, for four vials in total. A third session of one to two vials, 8 weeks after the second, is an option your provider may recommend depending on the degree of volume change.
Each session. Appointments take 30 to 45 minutes. The skin is cleansed, a numbing agent may be applied, and the product is placed with a fine needle. Your provider then massages the area to distribute it evenly.
Aftercare. You will be asked to massage the treated areas at home for several days. The guidance is five minutes, five times a day, for five days. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot tubs for 24 to 48 hours. Swelling, tenderness or bruising for a few days is common.
Results. Some early fullness after a session comes from the fluid the product is mixed with and fades within days. The lasting change arrives gradually, usually over 3 to 4 months, as collagen develops.
Maintenance. Results can last up to 2 years. An annual maintenance session of one to two vials is recommended to sustain them. Your provider will advise based on how you respond.
What clients typically invest
Every plan is confirmed at consultation, so the figure here is a guide. For the initial series of two sessions and up to four vials, a typical client spends up to $3,600. Wise Aesthetics members receive 10% off and receive additional point-based rewards for redemption at their next visit. Your provider will confirm the cost of your own plan before you begin.
Planning around your calendar
Because results build slowly, biostimulators reward planning ahead. If you have a date in mind, such as a wedding or reunion, start the conversation several months in advance so the series can be completed and the results have time to develop.
Questions to ask at your consultation
- Is a biostimulator, a dermal filler, or a combination the right approach for my goals?
- How many sessions do you expect I will need, and how far apart?
- Is any part of the plan off-label?
- What should I expect in the days after each session?
- When will we review my results together?
Common questions
How much does Sculptra® cost in the Indianapolis area?
At Wise Aesthetics in Carmel, a typical client spends up to $3,600 for the initial series of two sessions and up to four vials. Members receive 10% off. Your provider will confirm the cost of your plan at consultation.
Is Sculptra® a filler?
It is an injectable, and it is often discussed alongside dermal fillers, yet it works differently. It supports your own collagen over time instead of adding volume at the appointment.
Can results be reversed?
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulators cannot be dissolved. This is one reason treatment is built up gradually over a series.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Often, yes. Your provider will advise on what can be combined and how treatments should be spaced.
