Microneedling in Carmel, Indiana

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to boost collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture, tone, and elasticity. Using a medical-grade microneedling device, controlled micro-injuries are created in the skin, triggering a natural renewal response that may improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven tone.

What Microneedling treats

Looking to address fine lines and/or acne scarring? Traditional microneedling is a powerful tool to address these concerns. Microneedling is a minimally invasive option that may help skin look smoother and firmer. Book a consultation to discuss whether it suits your goals.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

The micro-injuries created by microneedling stimulate collagen production, reducing fine lines and wrinkles over time.

Loss of Skin Elasticity

Microneedling is designed to stimulate collagen and elastin, and PRFM can be added to complement the treatment; many clients notice firmer-looking skin over time.

Dull or Dehydrated Skin

Many clients find the combination of microneedling and PRFM leaves skin looking more hydrated and radiant.

Texture & Acne Scarring

Microneedling may improve the appearance of acne scars and uneven texture, and PRFM can be added to complement the treatment.

Hyperpigmentation & Sun Damage

The treatment promotes skin cell turnover, helping to fade discoloration and even skin tone.

Treatable areas

- Primary: Face (forehead, cheeks, around eyes, lips), neck

- Secondary: Décolletage, back (acne scars), other areas with stretch marks or scars

Microneedling creates micro-injuries to stimulate collagen, improving texture, fine lines, and mild scarring.

What to expect

Before, during and after your Microneedling appointment at Wise Aesthetics.

Before your treatment

Avoid Blood Thinners

Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications and supplements (e.g., fish oil, Vitamin E) for at least 7 days prior to treatment unless medically necessary.

Discontinue Retinoids and Acids

Stop using retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or other exfoliating products 3-5 days before treatment.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Protect your skin from direct sun exposure and avoid tanning for at least 7 days prior.

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, as hydration enhances the effectiveness of the treatment.

Clean Skin

Arrive at your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin. Avoid applying lotions or oils to the treatment area.

Inform Your Provider

Notify your provider of any medical conditions, medications, or recent treatments (e.g., chemical peels, laser).

Prepare for PRF (if applicable)

For microneedling with PRF, eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before your appointment to ensure an effective blood draw.

During your treatment

Microneedling Only

Your skin is cleansed, and a topical numbing cream is applied for comfort.

A microneedling device creates controlled micro-injuries to the skin’s surface, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

The treatment feels like a light prickling sensation and typically lasts 30-60 minutes.

Microneedling with PRF

A small sample of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich fibrin (PRF).

After microneedling, the PRF is applied to the treated areas to complement the treatment.

After your treatment

Avoid Sun Exposure

Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7 days.

Skip Makeup

Avoid applying makeup for 24 hours post-treatment to allow your skin to heal.

Gentle Skincare

Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. Avoid harsh exfoliants, retinoids, or acids for at least 5-7 days.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water to support your skin’s healing and collagen production.

Avoid Heat and Irritation

Refrain from saunas, hot showers, vigorous exercise, or swimming for 48 hours.

Do Not Pick or Scratch

Mild redness, swelling, or flaking may occur. Let your skin heal naturally.

Expected results

Microneedling Only

Many clients notice smoother, more radiant-looking skin within about a week.

Over time, as collagen production increases, many clients notice improvement in the appearance of skin texture, fine lines, and scars (typically within 4-6 weeks).

Microneedling with PRF

PRF is offered as an add-on that may complement the treatment; your provider can advise whether it suits your goals. Full effects are visible after 3-6 months.

Individual results vary.

How often to return

Microneedling Only

A series of 3-6 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, is recommended.

Maintenance treatments can be performed every 6-12 months.

Microneedling with PRF

A series of 3-4 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, is recommended for enhanced and sustained results.

Maintenance treatments may be scheduled every 6-12 months based on individual needs.

- Single Treatment: Well-suited for a refresh; some clients notice smoother, brighter-looking skin after one treatment.

- Series of 3 Treatments: Ideal for achieving long-lasting improvements in texture, tone, and overall skin health.

Please follow these pre-treatment instructions carefully to avoid contraindications. For your safety, failure to do so may result in the inability to proceed with your treatment.

Is Microneedling right for you?

Your provider reviews your medical history and discusses risks and alternatives with you before recommending treatment.

Who may not be a candidate

This treatment is not suitable for everyone. Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection, cold sore, breakout or rash in the area, have a history of keloid scarring, have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners, or have used isotretinoin. Your provider will review your medical history before recommending treatment.

Your provider will go through the risks that apply to you and answer your questions before you decide.

Microneedling questions, answered

What is microneedling, and how does it work?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create tiny microchannels in the skin. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production, promoting natural skin repair and rejuvenation. It helps improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, uneven texture, and overall skin tone.

What skin concerns can microneedling address?

Microneedling is effective for a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, sun damage, uneven skin tone, and stretch marks. It is safe for most skin types and can be customized to meet your specific needs.

Is there any downtime after microneedling?

Microneedling typically requires minimal downtime. You may experience redness and mild swelling, similar to a sunburn, for 24-48 hours post-treatment. Your skin may also feel slightly sensitive or tight. Most clients can resume their normal activities the following day.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

While some clients notice improvement after a single session, a series of treatments is usually recommended. Typically, 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart are recommended, depending on your skin concerns and desired outcomes. Your provider will create a personalized plan during your consultation.
