What Xeomin® treats

Looking to soften expression lines? Your provider will assess your facial movement and goals to confirm whether Xeomin® is right for you. Some uses described below are off-label, and we will tell you which apply to your plan.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Xeomin relaxes the muscles behind forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet. It is FDA-approved for frown lines between the eyebrows; use in other areas is off-label.

Enlarged Pores

Some clients ask about very small, superficial doses of neurotoxin for skin texture and the look of pores. This is an off-label use, and your provider will advise whether it is appropriate for you.

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Neurotoxin can reduce sweating by blocking the nerve signals that activate sweat glands. Xeomin is not FDA-approved for this use, and your provider will discuss the options suited to you.

Lip Enhancements ("Lip Flip")

A small amount of Xeomin relaxes the muscle around the mouth so the upper lip rolls slightly outward. This is an off-label use, and your provider will explain whether it suits you.

Jawline & Masseter Tension

Many of our clients use neurotoxin to address masseter tension or facial slimming. This is an off-label use. The right approach depends on your anatomy and goals, which we evaluate during your consultation.

Platysmal Bands (Neck Rejuvenation)

Neurotoxin can relax the neck muscles that form vertical bands. With Xeomin this is an off-label use, and your provider will assess whether it suits your anatomy.

Treatable areas

Upper Face: Glabella (11s), Frontalis (Forehead), Crow's Feet

Other areas: Bunny Lines, DAO, Perioral, LLSAN, Mentalis, Brows, Cosmetic Masseter

What to expect

Before, during and after your Xeomin® appointment at Wise Aesthetics.

Before your treatment
  • Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), or other blood-thinning medications for 7 days before your appointment. If you are on prescription blood thinners, consult your healthcare provider before stopping any medication.
  • Avoid supplements that can thin the blood, such as fish oil, Vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo biloba, and St. John's Wort, for at least 7 days prior to treatment.
  • Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment, as it can increase the risk of bruising.
  • Refrain from undergoing facials, chemical peels, waxing, or any exfoliating treatments on the treatment area for at least 1 week before your appointment.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any important events to allow time for the full effects to develop and for any minor bruising or swelling to subside.
  • Inform your provider of any medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are currently taking. Notify your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have had Botox or similar treatments in the past.
  • Arrive at your appointment with clean skin, free of makeup, lotions, or oils.
During your treatment

Your treatment begins with a thorough consultation, during which your provider will guide you through the treatment areas and precisely map out the injection points for the neuromodulators.

Using advanced techniques, small, carefully measured doses of neuromodulators are skillfully injected into the targeted areas, tailored to your specific goals and consultation plan.

Afterward, your skin is gently cleansed, and a soothing recovery serum is applied to promote comfort and healing. Any small bumps from the injections typically subside within an hour, leaving you ready to enjoy your refreshed look.

After your treatment

Avoid lying down for 4 hours after treatment, to ensure Botox® & Wrinkle Relaxers do not migrate.

Avoid strenuous exercise and other activities that make you sweat for 24 hours after treatment.

Avoid facials and facial massages—including at-home devices or gua sha—for 2 weeks after treatment.

Expected results

Results should appear in full effect after 2 weeks. You will see less movement and texture in the treated areas, giving a smooth, refreshed look.

Individual results vary.

How often to return

Depending on several factors, like metabolism and dosage, results can last between 3-4 months. We recommend coming in on a quarterly basis to maintain your results.

Typically every 3–4 months for most clients seeking continuous wrinkle reduction.

Some may metabolize the product faster and choose slightly more frequent touch-ups, while others can go longer.

Please follow these pre-treatment instructions carefully to avoid contraindications. For your safety, failure to do so may result in the inability to proceed with your treatment.

What Xeomin® costs

The cost of Xeomin® depends on your goals and the plan your provider recommends. Your provider will confirm your plan and its cost at consultation, before any treatment.

Is Xeomin® right for you?

Your provider can help you decide between Xeomin® and our other wrinkle relaxers.

Is Xeomin® right for you?

Your provider reviews your medical history and discusses risks and alternatives with you before recommending treatment.

Who may not be a candidate

This treatment is not suitable for everyone. Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a condition that affects your muscles or nerves, have had a reaction to any botulinum toxin product, have a skin infection in the area, or take blood thinners, muscle relaxants or certain antibiotics. Your provider will review your medical history before recommending treatment.

Risks and side effects

Every injectable treatment carries risk. Common effects include redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites and a temporary headache. Less common effects include a temporary drooping eyelid or brow, or an uneven result. In rare cases the effects of botulinum toxin can spread beyond the treated area and cause serious symptoms, including difficulty swallowing or breathing. Your provider will go through the risks that apply to you and answer your questions before you decide.
