What to expect

From the moment you walk through our doors to the days and weeks following your visit, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Explore what to expect before, during, and after your treatment, including anticipated results and recommended treatment frequency—so you can feel confident, prepared, and excited for your transformation.

Before Your Treatment

Avoid Sun Exposure:
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning (natural or artificial) for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily.

Discontinue Certain Products:
Stop using retinoids, glycolic acids, and exfoliating products 5-7 days before treatment.

Refrain from Blood Thinners:
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications 7 days before your appointment unless medically necessary.

Clean Skin:
Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Do not apply lotions, oils, or skincare products on the treatment area.

Inform Your Provider:
Notify your provider if you are taking photosensitizing medications or have a history of cold sores, as antiviral medication may be recommended.

During Your Treatment

Your skin will be cleansed, and protective eye shields will be applied. A cooling gel may be applied to the treatment area for comfort.

The BBL device delivers light pulses to the skin’s surface, targeting pigmentation, redness, or other skin concerns.
You may feel a snapping or warming sensation with each pulse, but the procedure is typically well-tolerated.

Treatments usually take 15-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area.

After Your Treatment

Protect Your Skin:
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) immediately after treatment and daily thereafter.
Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 4 weeks.

Avoid Heat and Irritation:
Refrain from hot baths, saunas, and vigorous exercise for 48 hours. Do not use harsh skincare products, including retinoids and exfoliants, for 5-7 days.

Moisturize:
Use a gentle moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and support healing.

Manage Side Effects:
You may experience mild redness or warmth, similar to a sunburn, which typically subsides within a few hours.
Pigmented spots may darken and flake off over the next 7-10 days.

Avoid Picking or Scrubbing:
Do not pick at darkened spots or peeling skin; let them naturally slough off.

You may experience mild redness, swelling, or darkening of pigment, which resolves in a few days.

Expected Results

Initial Results: Improvements in redness, pigmentation, and skin tone can often be seen within 1-2 weeks.

Continued Improvement: Collagen production is stimulated, leading to further improvements in skin texture and elasticity over the following months.

Pigmentation: Brown spots may darken before flaking off, revealing clearer, more even-toned skin.

Treatment Frequency

For optimal results, a series of 3-5 treatments is typically recommended, spaced 3-4 weeks apart.

Maintenance treatments every 6-12 months help preserve results and protect against future damage.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is BBL, and how does it work?

BBL (BroadBand Light) is an advanced light-based treatment that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to target and treat a variety of skin concerns. By delivering precise light energy to the skin, BBL stimulates collagen production and addresses issues such as pigmentation, redness, sun damage, and uneven texture, leaving your skin looking clearer and more youthful.

What skin concerns can BBL treat?

BBL is effective for treating acne, sunspots, age spots, freckles, redness caused by rosacea, broken capillaries, fine lines, and uneven skin tone. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, hands, and other areas of the body to rejuvenate and improve skin clarity.

How many BBL sessions will I need to see results?

While many clients notice improvements after one session, a series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is often recommended for optimal results. Your provider will create a personalized treatment plan based on your specific skin concerns and goals.

Is there any downtime after a BBL treatment?

BBL treatments require little to no downtime. You may experience mild redness or swelling, similar to a mild sunburn, which typically resolves within a few hours to a day. Pigmented areas may darken temporarily before flaking off, revealing clearer skin. It’s important to avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen to protect your skin after the treatment.
